Another Fabulous & Fun PINK SATURDAY.........

WELCOME TO ANOTHER SWEET PINK SATURDAY!

First, I want to say how sorry I am that I did not answer any comments last week.

Thanks to Bev, our lovely host of Pink Saturdays, I would not have thought to see if the comments were blocked....I just thought no one came by! lol! So.... I want to thank each of you that visited, for leaving such nice comments and I am glad you all did come by, I don't feel so lonesome now!

(I have no idea how my comments got blocked as I have not opened that page in ages!! Wicked Trolls in my computer???)

Here are a few favorites of mine with pink...I hope you enjoy them!



Would you believe that I found the pie plate in Arizona, and the matching cookie jar shortly after we moved to Michigan? My "over flow" of cookies, when baking, go in this cookie jar and for some reason, my dear hubby has never thought to look there when the big cookie jar is empty! heheh! It is my secret stash!! These beautiful old pie plates are wonderful for dinner plates. I have a small collection and it makes for an interesting and unusual table setting. Very Cottage!!


This little ballerina pin was given to me by my younger sister when we were small children. She picked them out herself and there used to be two. Even with a little missing rhinestone, she is so precious to me! She holds lots of dear memories. I used to wear it all the time. The gold boot belonged to my beloved Mom and I remember her wearing it. I see, it too, now has a missing stone here and there...it is about 50 years old.



This olde, sweet bowl with roses, is one of my favorites in the kitchen. I have cupboards with no doors so I can enjoy my little collections.


This vintage shelf and plate holder, was painted by my dear friend Pauline in California and means much to me now that we live so far apart!


And, last, but not least, is this lovely old plate. I found this when we lived in beautiful Prescott, Arizona in one of my favorite antique stores. The pink is a luscious pale pink in a raspberry tone and I purchased it on a beautiful summer day that holds more sweet memories.

It is SPRING now and my tulips and daffodils are bravely peeking their heads thru the soil. I hope I am not jinxing things by saying, "bye bye Winter" to soon. There is a storm heading our way from the West.....I hope it will leave all the snow in the Rockies and be just rain, when and if, it gets to us!

WHERE DID THIS WEEK GO....I CAN'T BELIEVE IT IS ALREADY SATURDAY....

HI AND WELCOME!

I can't believe another week has just flown by! The middle of March and April is soon to be here with everything we have all been waiting for.....lilacs, tulips, sweet daffodils, and one of my top favorites, Lily Of The Valley. I have loved their sweet scent since I was a little girl growing up in Omaha, Ne.

With the week flying by I found I was not really ready for PINK SATURDAY, but what I have been working on for eBay is pink, so I will share those with you. But first....

Tuesday is St, Patricks day and I will be making my delicious corned beef, potatoes cabbage and carrots. Lemon Meringue Pie is for dessert. Would you like the recipe for the best corned beef on earth? I will share it with you if you won't tell anyone else. HeHeHe.

Start your corned beef early in the morning and let it simmer with the spices until about an hour before your meal.

Most of the corned beef come with spices and I always add to those,
bay leaves and
2 Tbls. of whole cloves and
1 or 2 cloves of garlic, peeled and halved.
Put the corned beef in cold water in a deep pot. Cover and bring to a boil, then turn down to simmer. As I said I let mine simmer all day so it is very, very tender.

When it is done, lift meat, carefully as it wants to fall apart, into a shallow baking dish. Start oven at 350 degrees.

Now for the awesome sauce which I triple:
2 TBLS of butter or margarine
1/3 cup of brown sugar, packed...I use Splenda Brown Sugar.
1 TBLS Mustard (Prepared)
1/2 cup of ketchup
3 TBLS of cider vinegar

Mix ingredients smoothly together in a small saucepan, adding a little water or liquid from the kettle if needed. Heat and stir only until blended. Pour over corned beef.

Bake 30 minutes or until browned, basting occasionally.

While this is baking I put in carrots, red potatoes, (peeled and cut) and cabbage in the water the corned beef was cooking in.

Cook until tender...drain and serve with corned beef. Guaranteed....You will get raves with this recipe and you won't wait until St, Pat's Day 2010, to make it again!

The reason I make so much extra sauce as it is so delicious drizzled over the vegetables and people always want extra sauce on their meat. I usually do two corned beefs and four or five times the sauce recipe. Really!! If you try it, you will understand why!

PINK SATURDAY

**HI EVERYONE AND....... WELCOME**

Up here in Michigan, it has been a week of rain and warmer temperatures and just when you think "ahhhhhh, this is so nice," the temperature drops and we have snow! Tomorrow will be the first day of March and I can, finally say, next month is APRIL! The trees will start their blush of green about the middle of March and by the first of April we should start seeing the tips of our daffodils and tulips. So with this in mind I made some of my little whimsical bunnies.

***HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY JACK THOMAS***

Friday the 13th is not an unlucky day in our family, for that is the happy day Jack Thomas came into the world. Lots of dark brown hair and big blue eyes, he captured all of our hearts! He was a bundle of joy and his sisters were absolutely smitten with him! I will never forget the sweetness on their faces as they looked at him or held him. He completed their precious family.

This handsome, intelligent little man has a sweet gentle side to him, but he is ALL boy and a fierce little soccer player. With three older sisters he learned early not to be bossed to death!!!! He knows how to firmly put his foot down! It is so funny to see this from someone so young, but they have gotten the point....somewhat!

He is a little thinker. This was obvious early on.

He watches his sisters as they do things, and then he puts it away in his memory and when he needs it, he just pulls it out and does it. Case in point is this little story. He liked to be on the computer from an early age to play Disney and other little games. His Mama was busy when she heard the printer going. Rushing in to see what he was doing, he explained to her that he knew how to print out what he needed. She was, naturally, astounded! He was three. It has been that way ever since. He will start Kindergarten in the Fall and he is already so far ahead in what he can do and what he knows.

He is a big fan of Thomas The Tank Engine and Super Heros, his favorite being Spiderman. He wore the Spiderman suit always, under his clothes for a very long time, so he would be ready for any emergency! Now it is cars and car sets.

He wants to go to Applebee's for his Birthday dinner and have an ice cream cake with candles......Wish Mo and Pa could be there, too!
Happy Birthday Sweetie.....We love you, love you and are sending you lots of hugs and kisses!!!
