PINK SATURDAY

Yesterday, another woman lost a breast to cancer. I know her only slightly, as she and her family are good friends with one of our sons and his family.
She has a family, two daughters and a husband and she is a strong woman and will be a fighter thru this. She was once a CHIP. (California Highway Patrol)

Having been in her home and around her and hers from time to time, it was so sad for me knowing what she was going thru. It made me wish there was something I could do and there was..... I kept prayers going her way, this Thursday, as she was having the surgery, that all would be OK.

I checked with my daughter-in-law to see how she came thru it, and learned she is doing as well as can be expected after such an ordeal. The tumor was much larger than expected so they had to remove all her lymph nodes, instead of just one as they had hoped for. Now, they are awaiting the results of the nodes.

This is a woman who always had her mamograms and her monthly self exams. She had had a cyst removed and when she found this lump the doctor thought it was scar tissue, but thank heavens he ordered more tests.

The reason I find I am compelled to write about this, is I realize none of us, as women, are safe from this insidious disease.....We must contiue to fight back by having our regular mamograms and do our monthly self exams and give, when we can, in the hopes they will soon find the cause and the cure! And...don't forget the amazing power of prayer, even doctors are now recognizing just how powerful prayer can be!

Won't it be wonderful to wake up one morning and find the headlines of the paper to read, Cure For Cancer Found!

**I hope each of you that visits my blog will click on the right, to give free mamograms to those that otherwise would not be able to have one!**Thank You!!

So, my post this beautiful Pink Saturday, is dedicated to all that have had to fight the battle, to those that have won the battle, to those who are still in the battle and to those that sadly did not win.

CHEERS FOR THE RED WHITE AND BLUE AND HAPPY PINK SATURDAY, TOO

HAPPY 4th and WELCOME!
Be sure and visit Beverly of How Sweet The Sound... and all the sweet pink-a-licious blogs....thank you, Beverly for hosting this every single Saturday!

We painted our small cottage style bathroom a few days ago....I am so pleased with the pretty light robins eggs blue. It makes me think of the beach, and so I think of it as my beachy blue bathroom. The mirror I have had for over thirty years....I found it in a quaint antique shop up the coast from San Diego. It got a fresh coat of white paint to match all the crown molding, the wrap around shelf and all the rest of the trim in the bath. Of course we chose the hottest day with the highest humidity to do this! lol! The ceiling is done in the new paper that is embossed to look like tin. I love it! Wall paper on the ceiling in the bathroom, you are thinking? Yes! It does very well and painted is quite sturdy...even with the long hot showers.

The fanciful collectible pin cushion, the pretty sachets and the hanger cover can all by found on my EBAY I hope you will stop by for a visit.

I had a lot of enjoyment doing the silk ribbon embroidery over a piece of vintage crocheted doiley for this clothes cover.........It turned out too pretty to hide in the closet, don't you think?

Hope you all have a safe and fun 4th weekend and thank you for visiting today!

LATE~BUT I MADE IT~WHEW!

Hi Everyone......I am up early to get this posted.....I could not get to it yesterday as we are dealing with a serious family issue and it makes concentration on anything else difficult!! I am sure you can all relate.....at sometime or other!

A nice neighbor came over with these roses this week....they have such a lovely fragrance and they are PINK! A couple of mornings later I woke up an explosion of pink petals and thought it looked so pretty I took a picture to share....

I had several Peony blooms this year....usually I don't get any or only one or two...but those naughty black squirrels we have, here, ate off all the bloom heads except two. This is one of the two! You do not know how frustrated I get at those creatures! They bite off the heads, open them up and leave a pile of tiny pink petals just to get me. Just like what they did with many of the tulip buds. Uggggggg!

A little Pin Cushion you can see at my EBAY auctions along with other "Pretties" in PINK some of which are below.....One in BLUE, too...

These beautiful handpainted porcelain buttons were a gift from my friend Kate of
" MY ENGLISH ROSE COTTAGE"

If you are not familiar with this lovely Boutique, you will quickly fall in love once there....don't forget to Bookmark her site so you can go back often!

Thank you for visiting this beautiful PINK SATURDAY and have fun roaming thru all the other delectable pinkie blogs thanks to Beverly of How Sweet The Sound...

Michigan Is Cold And Snowy This Pink Saturday.....

WELCOME!
And
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

My computer had to go into the shop and I just got it back a couple of days ago. It was a shock to discover how much I am attached to it keeping up with friends, family and listing on my different sites. I am still pondering on this..........as I never expected to miss it so much! With no family around and the days cold, snowy and dark, I wonder, has the computer become my second family???? And, is this a sad thing or a good thing?

Anyway, I wanted to share with you, this Pink Saturday, my pink and rosy china that I just love. It is called Rose Chintz, and made in England by Johnson Bros. I have had this for many years, so you see I was loving roses and the cottage look years before it came into it's own. One of my very loved daughters-in-law ( I am blessed with two of them! ) started me on my way with a vegetable bowl that you see in the first picture. I still need/want a few more pieces such as the teapot and the sugar and creamer and, the salt and pepper and......I am sure I can think of more!

The china and depression glass are in a very old pie safe out of a kitchen in a long gone hotel in British Columbia near Vancouver. We lived in Blaine, Wa. for several years. I was so fortunate when I found this oldie. A friend took me to an antique dealer she knew, because I was looking for vintage display pieces for my little shop. When I told him what I needed he took me out to his barn to show me the very big and very old pie safe. I should have taken a before picture as it was sitting in over grown weeds and needed lots and lots of paint and TLC. It is one of my treasured pieces!

Do you see the pretty dinner bell in the front with the pretty pink roses? It says, To Mother With Love and was picked out and purchased by my adorable little daughter, with her own money. My "little" daughter is now grown with four precious children of her own!

Enjoy!

I thought I would share some of my things with pink that are hot off the press, too!

The first two pictures show a tote/diaper bag with recycled denim from a blouse grown too small, and lots of vintage touches and straps that have knotted ends OUTSIDE the bag. The generous pocket on the back is perfect the cel phone, sun glasses or keys. Two more pockets are inside.
