Did You Watch The Royal Wedding?

Did you set your alarm very early so you could be up to see the festivities of the Royal Wedding? I did. I slept in my sewing/guest room with the little TV and woke up to see Prince William as he was leaving for Westminster Abby.
I found it to be all beautiful and just perfect. The gowns gorgeous, the hats outrageous and I must say not very becoming to their wearers, but I understand the pomp and protocol. The music was heavenly....and the sermons inspiring. Wouldn't it be a good thing if all couples could hear such words from time to time to remember the love and devotion that brought them together in the first place...maybe it would keep more couples together....

And the kisses on the balcony....weren't they sweet and romantic? And the planes of William's squadron flying over head gave me goose bumps! I wish this couple a long and happy marriage and life!

Years ago, I stayed up all night, when we lived in Washington State, to watch Diana marry. Am I wrong in saying that todays wedding was much lighter and happier in feel? After following Diana and watching her little men grow into fine young adults I couldn't not watch the wedding of her eldest.

I hope those of you that watched this happy event in a world that is fraught with problems, enjoyed as thoroughly as I did! It was nice to have something happy to watch!

Be sure and visit Beverly's for this weeks list of pinkalicious blogs to visit. While over at Beverly's, do leave her a comment. We wouldn't have this special day if it weren't for her and all her hard work!

And please remember to keep all the people in your prayers that lost their lives and all their possessions to the tornados that tore apart the South this week and all of this spring. Sadly, so many tragic happenings in the world just in the few short months of this year. Do you think, perhaps, He is trying to get our attention?

Happy Pink Saturday and have a happy weekend and week!
Jil

The advantage of living in Europe -- the wedding took place around noon for me. :)

Yup, I watch bits and pieces of it -- Kate's wedding dress was a dream.

On German TV there were news about the terrible tornadoes, too. I feel especially sorry for the people in Alabama. A dear friend is living there. So far I haven't heard from her. I just hope she and her family are doing fine...

Nonetheless -- Happy Pink Saturday!

Hi Jill~
Such a beautiful post - love the vintage bride and all that you wrote about the wedding. I envision in my mind Prince William calling Kate his princess now.
Yes, I think the same...thanks for the reminder to pray.
Love and Happy Pink Saturday!

You bet, Jil! I set my alarm for 4AM...and had iced coffee and rhubarb pie for breakfast!

I learned a new word today..."facinator." It's what they call those flights of millinery fancy that some of the women had pinned to the sides, fronts, and elsewheres on their heads! Facinators!

My hubbin asked me if I remember what I was doing when Diana and Charles were married. I was watching TV! Silly man.

I did watch Diana's wedding but I didn't watch William's. I am always up at 3am so it wasn't the time...not sure why I didn't. Guess I'll have to look at the pictures on the internet. I am finally well thank you for asking Jil. Happy Pink Saturday and hope you have a great weekend!

I set the timer on our TV for the Satellite to turn on at 4 a.m., and the VCR too, to record it until 7a.m., when I have to get up and get my son up and ready for school....then I watched what I taped after the ceremony was finished, to see what I had missed...it was all so lovely, and yes, much lighter and happier than Charles and Diana's wedding.

Have a wonderful weekend :)

Warmest hugs, Brenda

Hi Jill, Thanks so much for your sweet comment. I have to tell you I just adore your blog, its so sweet and lovely and all about the things I love. I appreciate what you said about the tornados in the south, you see my city, Tuscaloosa, Al was hit hard with this tornado. Its every bit as bad as you see on news reports. President Obama was here today, and we have the spirit it takes to rebuild. We'll never have our old beloved city, but maybe it will be even better. I am fortunate I have my home, the storm missed us by three miles......Thanks for sharing this post, and I'm your newest follower.
Hope your weekend is great..........

I didn't know there were other options than to watch the wedding, chuckle! Yes, it certainly was a lot warmer & relaxed in tone ... different generation. Poor Diana was walking into a nightmare with Charles & had no clue ...

Enjoyed every single minute of the wedding.

Love your fabulous graphic of the bride.

Happy beautiful PS weekend ~

Happy Pink Saturday, my sweet friend! I love weddings and I remember Diana's like it was yesterday! I had seated myself comfortably in the family room with my newborn in my lap. He wouldn't remember of course but it was and always will be precious to me! Magical day today! I think the Lord has been trying to get our attention for a very long time! Have a lovely and magical weekend.

Blessings,
Sandi

What a beautiful share. Yep I was up at 1am to sit and watch the wedding myself. I love every single bit of it. So light and happy yes, so different than Diana and Charles when they wed. I loved it. A different generation.

I loved watching the faces, and seeing the fashion. I especially enjoyed the hats.

Hope you have a glorious weekend sweetie. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

Sorry, to disappoint, you but I was one of the few that did not watch it. I need my sleep more.

No, I didn't watch the whole thing because I had to go to work and I needed to be awake. I watched some of it before I left the house and watch the replay this evening. She made such a beautiful bride and I wish them much happiness.I did watch Charles and Diana. I think he felt like his mom was watching them from above. I enjoyed your post and we have been lucky weather wise. It has been all around us. Have a wonderful weekend. I am off to watch a soccer game tomorrow. Your Missouri Friend.

Yes it was fun to see the wedding...although I got up late and only saw the kiss on the balcony!

I wasn't going to because of what happened to Diana...but I decided to show my little Bebe the "princess" that was on TV. We were glad we did!

I wasn't awake for the wedding, but I did see all the photos online this morning. I agree with you-the mood appeared to be much lighter for these two young people. Thank you for mentioning our suffering friends in Alabama. I can't imagine how I would deal with such devastation. I hope your weekend is restful. Terri

Wishing them a great future - one thing about Diana, she loved her sons so much! I'm sure William will be a great husband and father.

Yes, I did watch the wedding. It was so beautiful and while very elegant and I'm sure very costly I appreciated how they tried to keep it as understated as possible and the sweet tributes to Diana along the way. I do so hope they will be happy and in love forever. Happy Pink Saturday to you
