Hello, Again

Hello All ~
I haven't blogged in ever so long, but I saw Beverly's invitation to join in "Pink Saturday" and thought since I had a moment, I would!

How have you all been?

I am about the same, busy, busy, busy, but there have been changes.  My husband is battling memory loss and while he is healthy and active, it is a frustrating and depressing thing for us both.  This is a very intelligent, thoughtful, kind  man who is known not just for being calm and down to earth, but just how plain smart he is. How intuitive with such an inquiring mind!  A wonderful husband and father.  This disease is tragic!! We are hoping the meds and coconut oil every day will keep it from progressing or progressing too quickly.  We know it is in God's hands.

This has been such a cool spring and summer after a brutal winter, here in Michigan.  With reports of another bad one ahead of us we are planning to perhaps, escape this one ~

The complete running of the house keeps me super busy.  We both tend to the yard and gardens.  I just came in from planting more pink tulips and hope the squirrels will leaven them be.  lol!  I keep busy with my website, The Ruffled Rose and my Etsy Shop, AnniesShabbyAttic  Here are a few pictures ~
New at The Ruffled Rose ~  A sweet Southern Belle Pillow
I different style of pink pumpkin
A pretty 4" faux cookie ~  I  need to get busy and make many more as most are gone!
A pretty piece of vintage china ~
I am adding several new things a week, so I invite you to come browse!

And a couple of items form AnniesShabbyAttic
Beautiful, hand-painted vintage "post" buttons ~ and below, a darling vintage hanging bag for laundry or clothespins ~

I am off now to go blog hop all the pretty pink-a-licious blogs at Beverly's
Talk soon!
Wishing you beautiful days!
♥ Jil

Thanks for sharing all you pink lovelies. I think the ruffly pumpkin stem is a hoot.
Go with God in your journey with your hsband's memory loss.

You are definitely very creative. I love all the things you shared. Regret your husband is having some issues, but maybe he will improve. So many new ways to deal with these type situations now. Blessings to you all.

Jil, thanks for visiting my post. So sorry to hear about your hubby's memory illness. Prayers being sent so he continues to function and enjoy all the activities life offers.

I am from Michigan too. Heard the rumors about a repeat of last winter... NO!

Hi Jil,
Nice to see you back. I'm sorry your husband is having a hard time. It really is tragic. My uncle is suffering with the same thing and he too was always very sharp and witty. Being an Englishman, I loved listening to his stories about the old country. You have shared some lovely pinks and I hope you are having a beautiful weekend.

Blessings,
Sandi

My thought and prayers are with you and your husband. The progression of memory loss is different for each person. The important thing is to allow him to do what he is safely able to do and to continue to keep his body healthy and his mind as active as it can be. Do they know what type of dementia is causing his memory loss? Also, if he is older (over 60) did they check to make sure he doesn't have a urinary tract infection. Men can become very confused with they are older and get a UTI.

I love all of your pink things. I especially like the southern belle pillow. I love embroidery.

I'm sorry to read about your husband's memory loss. My FIL had a stroke years ago and suffers the same. I love all of your handmade creations. The pink pumpkin is so unique and I love your pillow too. Wishing you and your husband well.

Dearest Jil & Tom,
Just found that you both had your 46th wedding anniversary... Sorry for being late but my PC died and I'm still learning my wary around on the new Mac. Books from Amazon wil trigger in on Monday or so next week, that will hopefully help me a lot.
At our age, it is not easy for changing completely.
Just read this post and indeed, I hope it will not be dramatic. My husband is almost 22 years older than I am and I am noticing the very same things of memory loss and often mixing up people when telling a story. It is sad and what can we do? Aging is not for the faint of heart but being confronted with it in such a way is tough.
Five years ago my Pieter had open heart surgery and in January around my Mom's death he had heart cramps. That was a very scary time! He's doing better, not well as his pace of walking is so much slower and he gets tired real quick. That makes him cranky at times, not wanting to accept that his body is slowly giving in.
Prayers for you and yes, a healthy diet is very important and above all, a diet without sugar as that does so much damage to the brain, feeds cancer and creates diabetes, obesity etc. I'm doing without since 2007 when I learned I had diabetes type 2 and because I have chronic kidney disease I don't want to be on medication as it ruins my kidneys in a hurry.
Hugs,
Mariette
