Positive Thoughts To End 2008 With And To Begin 2009.......

I found this on Vintage Lace And Lavender's blog and it sent such a message that I am adding it to mine. Times are not easy and people seem to be a tad ruder with the stresses of today. If we can all remember to be true to ones self and remain kind and gentle in todays world, maybe, just maybe, that will send a message in itself.

Enjoy.....

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, It is between you and God;
It never was between you and them anyway.

OUR SWEET HANNAH IS 11.....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.....
This pretty girl is one of my precious granddaughters. She was born in San Diego, Ca. and now she lives on the other side of the country in New York. Her Pa and I were blessed with getting to take lots and lots of care of her and her older and younger sisters as we did not live far apart, like we do now. Coming and spending the week-ends and days of no school were regular events and as a result we are very close and LOVE being together.
She is a talented artist, honor student, comedian and a very gentle soul! She is bit shy, but when she opens up you will find this amazingly fun and true friend. For being so young she has an amazing code of ethics that she lives by and did I mention her manners? She is polite, respectful and learning wonderful values. Does she sound perfect? Well, in my eyes she is! She is my dear, sweet Hannah and I am so lucky as I get to be her "Mo". (My name with all the Grandchildren.)
Happy Birthday Sweet Hannah! We are so Blessed to have you and Pa and I wish for you the best year yet!! Hugs and Kisses!

The House Is Back To Normal, But I Like It The Other Way Best.......

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and words can't begin to describe how wonderful it was to have our NY daughter and her family with us. The house was full of fun and toys everywhere and children up and down the stairs, hugs and kisses.....lots in the fridge to snack on. You can't beat those leftovers!!!

The girls rescued the sweetest kitty. All fluffy and orange and white, we couldn't leave the poor baby out in the bitter cold and snow. It did not seem to have a home, so we have adopted it and the children named it "Pumpkin".

So, as visits go, it always has to come to an end, and they headed back to NY thru Canada and Mother Nature was kind and held back the storm we were supposed to have. They are home safe and sound and now their house is back to normal, 'til the next visit!
I went back to work to take my mind off the too quiet house and the snowman is what I did today. Made from quilt batting, with a embroidered and blushed face I made this one all shabby with handmade pink paper roses and faux snow and glitter to bring a bit of winter charm to the Christmas decor and then to enjoy 'til Spring.

So Much To Be Thankful For.....

Thanksgiving is the beginning of our Holiday Season and it seems the perfect time to stop and reflect on all that is good and positive in our lives. All to be Thankful for.

I know how Thankful I am for my children, which unfortunately, are scattered from one coast to the other and rarely are we ever all together. And while that makes me sad and lonely, I am so blessed to have them in my life and to have many wonderful and sometimes funny memories. I love being their Mom!

Then there are the Grandchildren, extensions of my beloved children, so that makes them more precious to me than I can find words for. They are a joy....a true delight! Each one so different with their own personalities, yet alike with certain traits.

My husband.....I have a husband that has such a good heart. A husband that is so smart with a thirst for knowledge that amazes me. He is calm and steady and has been my rock and buddy for 39 years now. He calmly took me on with my four children and loves them like his own. I am so Thankful for him! We have one sweet daughter, together. At one time we had nine children in the house. His four girls and my daughter and three boys and then we added a daughter to the mix. And, something else to be Thankful for, all the children grew to be outstanding people with careers to be proud of and they are now parents to smart, beautiful children that they are proud of! We did not have any of the trouble that some parents have in this day and age and,.... we feel that truly was a MIRACLE!!

I am Thankful that I am priviledged to live in this great country of ours. We are going to have to work hard to keep the values this country was founded on and not give in to a change by people that want only to destroy what generations have worked for. I am Thankful and owe a huge debt of gratitude, to the men and women who sacrifice so much to allow us our freedoms.

It is good to write and think about being Thankful, as sometimes, like most of us, I loose sight of all the blessings I really have. I get caught up in the "lack of" instead of all that we do have.

I want wish all my great blogging "buddies" a wonderful and happy Thanksgiving and to say I am Thankful to have you and your friendships in my life!
And, of course, to my dear friends, and you know who you are, I think you know how Thankful to have you in my life, I am!

Blessings,
Jil

Snow Is On The Ground So It Must Be Winter.......

A week ago I was happily out raking the leaves in warm temperatures and this week I am shoveling three inches of snow in freezing temps. So, I think it is fair to say goodbye to the warm days and hello to cold.

I am past wanting to ice skate and sled so it is a time to cuddle under a quilt with the hubby and watch a good movie with a cup of tea or hot cocoa, get all those crafting projects started that I have been wanting to do, maybe even do some organizing and thinking what to make after the Holidays. Do some reading and be sure to make myself EXERCISE!!! Uggg! I don't think I would mind it so much if our cold weather did not last sooooooo long. Last Spring was a long time coming with many leaves barely out in MAY! Summer did not last that long, it seemed, and I do hope it won't be that way this next year. Busy, busy I will be 'til I can open the windows to the warm breezes and the birds songs!

It's Four In The Morning And .......

It was one of those nights when I was so tired I thought I would fall asleep before I reached the bed!!! Not long after I was in dreamland, a very loud Pilot Boat going up the river out into the lake, (to put a Captain on board one of those big freighters to guide it out of Lake Huron and thru the twists and turns of the St. Clair River), woke me and here I am...Yaaaaaawn.... So, I thought I would add a few recent things I have made to share with my blogging buddies and wait to, hopefully, get sleepy again.......

To keep the inside of our purses, totes and bags as pink and shabby as everything else!!

Darling Pillow With Vintage Image $24.00

Yummy Pink Butter Creme Faux Fairy Cakes and they come with the vintage plate, too!

One of my Spindle Ladies....This one an angel. I love making them...they are so whimsical and cute. The bases are done in mosaics.

Pretty towels are a must and here is one with a sachet with lots of delicious lavender!

The tree, above, is in front of the house and I took the picture because there is just that little spot of red left and it looks so pretty. The leaves will soon be gone, but that tree is the last to loose it's leaves in the Fall and the last to get leaves in the Spring!

The weather was so nice today. In the fifties and no wind, and here in Michigan, that is a small wonder this time of the year. There are still so many leaves on the trees. It is as if they don't want Old man Winter to come, either! I took advantage of the nice day and went out and raked the many that had fallen and the fresh air was so refreshing. It felt so good to be out working in the yard. Being cooped up all winter, even tho I am busy creating, stifles me and I yearn to hear the birds singing and the windows open. Tomorrow, if it does not rain as is forecasted, I will go and finish the task. It is raining now, so I most likely won't get out and will stay in and create! it is so nice, in the Spring when the last of the snow has melted, to see the heavy work is done and you can think ahead to going "flower" shopping.
