Summers Sweet Pink Saturday

Hello My Pink Saturday Friends....Here is the link to Beverly our hostess with the mostess for doing this for us faithfully each week....you will find all the other great blogs to visit and be sure to leave Bev a comment too, to tell her how much we appreciate her!

What a lazy summer week this has been....the cicadas are singing, the zinnias finally blooming and the watermelon and all the fruits and veggies from the Farmers Market simply delicious....

A bowl of saved rose petals....so pink and pretty.

Heavenly summer days and believe me, I am enjoying each and every moment as I watch the evenings slowly becoming shorter, I know that Fall is just over the hill...
We leave a little earlier in the evenings, now, for our two mile walk on the boardwalk by the St. Claire River, and when we finish our fast walk we enjoy sitting on one of the many benches and watch, hopefully, for a freighter to come steaming by. They can come in from the Atlantic and go through the St. Lawrence Seaway to a chain of magnificent Great Lakes and rivers to get to the Mississippi and out into the Gulf of Mexico. I always dream of getting a ticket on one and taking that journey...having a bag of books I never have time to read and maybe some needlework....I have put it on my bucket list. lol! The weather on the Great Lakes can be fierce, though....many freighters have broken up and sunk through the years in wild storms....like out on the oceans....infact, under our Blue Water Bridges lies in extremely deep water, a freighter that sunk there many a year ago. There were no survivors and the ship lies intact on the bottom where other freighters and super tankers travel over it.....that tells you how deep it is.

Looking North to the bridges, we are where we turn around and walk back....it is a mile each way...it is such a pretty place to walk and so much cooler on a hot evening. This is the St. Claire River and on the other side of the bridges is the mouth of gorgeous Lake Huron.

This has been a week of worry, too. One of our darling granddaughters, our Miss H. came down suddenly, and I mean suddenly! with pneumonia last Friday. She is not improving as she should.

She went back for more x-rays a couple of days ago where they showed she was worse, not better. Her meds were changed and yesterday she texted me the congestion in her chest is starting to break up and she was feeling bored, always a good sign, so I pray she is on the way back to her healthy self....this young lady had been running three miles a day in prepartion of her schools soccer season. She wanted to be the fastest on her team as they run those three miles a day in practice. I know she is anxious to get back to it and I hope she knows after this illness she is going to have to be very, very careful to pace herself and not play in the rain or it could all come back on her...Today she has an early morning appointment at the doctors where her Mom is going to ask for another chest x-ray. I hope they find that she is improving...She is a very precious girl.....I have found I worry as much about my grandchildren as I do with my own....I am sure all you Grandma's can relate!

Have a wonderful summery Pink Saturday! I am always overjoyed when I read your sweet comments and now I am off to leave you some!
With Loving Thoughts to my blogging friends....
Jil

Hi Jil,
I think that we moms and grandmoms are all guilty of worrying over our children and grandchildren.
I hope she gets better soon and able to return to the things she loves.

I think my roses liked our Summer weather this year because they have never bloomed so long. They loved it and I feel jipped because the weather was lousy for much of the season. It was cool and wet; terrible for us beach people!

Your walk sounds really lovely. Sounds a lot like our boardwalk here along the water front. When one is finished walking you can sit on the bench and watch the sunset. It is breath-taking there.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your sweet comment. I'm always happy to hear from you. Wishing you a delightful Pink Saturday weekend, my dear friend.

Blessings and hugs,
Sandi

Hi Jill! It was interesting reading about Lake Huron and your pictures are beautiful. There are many stories of ships going down in the Great Lakes. I've frequently vacationed at Lake Erie, and they won't allow kayakers on the lake side because the waters are so rough. I hope your granddaughter is up and about soon. It's always a worry when little ones are sick! Happy Pink Saturday! Hugs, Terri

A wonderful post, Jil! Lake Huron IS beautiful. I think it's the water...which always looks more turquoise to me, as compared to Lakes Michigan and Superior.

All the best to Miss H. She will be fine...and back to all the things she loves to do...I feel certain of it.

We're gonna be in your fair state tomorrow morning...my hubbin, my FIL and me...picking peaches!

I really enjoy your darling blog! It is such fun to visit! I hope your granddaughter gets well and strong.... I have heard of several people coming down with pneumonia this summer. Unfortunately, I am one of them. I took me about six weeks to shake it. It just hung on and didn't want to let go! I will say a prayer for her, and hope she gets well, soon!
Blessings,
Jenni

I hate when the days start getting shorter...summer is my favorite season. For now I'll keep enjoying those lazy, hazy crazy days of summer.

The bowl of pink petals is lovely.

I hope Miss H gets well soon. My granddaughter had something very similar about 6 months ago - 5 days in the hospital. She's 100% today. I don't think they ever knew what was the cause - odd, huh?!

Hi Jil :) It's always so nice to have you stop by my blog :) I've had such a busy weekend so far...first a baby shower for my daughter, from her father-in-law's side of the family today, then this afternoon Austin had to re-take his driving test (failed the parking aspect the first time), and thankfully he passed!!! Yeah!! So going to you know where Monday morning, lol :) Tomorrow I have another baby shower to go to for Amber, this one hosted by her mother-in-laws side of the family. Her due date is only just over 2 weeks away...yikes!!! :)

I think tonight I am just going to "kick back" in my cozy chair and relax for a bit, lol :) Sending good thoughts and prayers for your sweet granddaughter :)

Warmest hugs, Brenda

Oh Jill, you have such a beautiful place to walk. Enjoy! My walk takes me thru a section of woods and even though the sun is shining it's darker thru the woods. It's skeery sometimes...LOL. Prayers for your gd and hoping she recovers swiftly. My little gd had pneumonia too and was put in the hospital and like you said you worry so much...just as with your own children. It never ends. HPS ...xo

Two of my girls had pneumonia when they were small. It is so hard to get over! But eventually they were well. I will pray for her. She is so cute! I know that must be tough being unable to ran and jump and play! She will heal. It just takes time.
Love to you today and always Anne
