Pretty Drawstring Bags.....

Hello everyone....First to all the Etsy Cottage Style friends that caught my mistake this morning....I am sorry!  I thought I had entered the name of my blog as that is where I was writing, or trying to write on this new Blogger layout.  I have to say I do not like this layout at all and why did you have to change it....are you listening, Blogger?

Etsy Cottage Style is having a little party called Welcome To The Cottage Craft Room and I hope you will go over and look at the blogs and what these creative ladies have been doing....http://www.etsycottagestyle.com I have been working on drawstring bags, pretty bags for gift giving or for keeping rooms and dressers neat and pretty.  Here is my latest and also a picture of my sewing nook.  I call it that, as we downsized to a very small cottage bungalow with the smallest guest room I have ever seen!
And a few more bags.... This bag has the sweetest little figures from Beatrice Potters book Jemima Puddle Duck...Just click on the pictures to see them with larger and with more detail...
Have a happy day! Jil ♥

Finally, A Pink Saturday

(A Gardenia tree waiting for warmer weather to grace our porch. Can't you just smell it's heavenly fragrance?)

Oh my! I am afraid my blog has become a casualty of my running here and there with a seventeen year old granddaughter and keeping up things around the home and yard as well as creating! What exciting fun it all is and how good this new schedule is for us! It keeps us on our toes and everyday we look forward to what will be.... Up really early for the short drive to her high school and back again to pick her up. That is the best part as the house now feels lonely without her precious presence. Then, off to where she needs to go and often that is the Y. The kids meet there to swim and work out and I like that. Good healthy fun! She got here a little too late to be involved in school activities. For sports there is a cut off date and so she could not play the soccer she enjoys so much! She goes roller bladeing and has a new skate board she is learning to master....And, there will be a concert at her school where she has a solo. She has a beautiful voice and we are so thrilled that she is here so we will be able to attend and hear her!!!!! Oh, and did I mention she has two of the sweetest girl friends. Not bad for only being here six weeks!
And, at the prom last Saturday night....our girl, our Miss A., is in the short purple dress...

As to pinks....well, the gardens are just waking up again, as after our unexpected and early warming, Mother Nature rethought it all and sent us some very cold weather....the flowers became confused! Many of the bulbs did not bother to come up and the Bleeding Hearts are are smaller, so far, this year....So, maybe, hopefully, some pinks from the garden for you all, next week....In the meantime, I took this picture of a plate on a double shelf in the little guest/sewing room...it has darling little pink roses... the drieds in the old bottle? Dried Lily Of The Valley....just pick a bunch and let the water evaporate in the bottle and they will turn a soft, golden hue....I find them so charming!

A beautiful little plate newly listed at The Ruffled Rose
And this incredible set below, in pristine condition and from England, I found at an estate sale for a silly price....I was so happy it was hard not to do a little dance! :)

Now I am off to look at as much PINK as I can....

Can You Afford Pinterest???

I enjoyed my Pinterest boards....they were so pretty and it was relaxing to just go and look at all the pretties from gardens to jewelry and everything you can imagine in between! I have sadly deleted them all.

Why would I do this when I enjoyed it so much? Well, like so many things, it has gotten ugly out there and lawsuits are a very real possibility. If you belong to Linkedin, as I do, I am sure you are aware of all the chatter going on where Pinterest is concerned.

I hope I am not in any violation in reprinting this to my blog for all of you on Pinterest to consider.....

Discussion: Can you afford Pinterest?
For the first time when using one of these social sites i took the time to read about it first.Yes for the first time. When I signed for FB, Google+,Twitter and all the rest I just clicked the box.The difference this time was that a friend of mine was sued not long ago for breach of copyright. She had used a picture from the net to help her market her items. It was a very costly mistake.Basically when we pin something we are using someones pictures to help someone make money and it is not the owner of the picture. The next concern I had was when I read I was going to be liable for legals for Pin Interest as well if there ever was an issue. As a small person in this business world I just cant afford that.I do understand that the chances of me being sued are small but I am not going to allow any more risk factors to come into play.Etsy took the liberty of adding Pin Interest to their site without asking us sellers.I think this was not a very nice thing to do because they also didnt inform us of the pros and cons of using it either. They get to make money off the pictures that are pinned now as well.So I guess you can say well they make money off them anyways so what is a few more cents? The difference is that the contract I signed in for was for a site that basically works like a co-op and we all get the benefit of the group size.I pay for my listing and for sale and this effectively is my commitment to the site.I didnt give permission for my pics to be used in any other way that in the store I set up.So now Etsy says what?if you dont like it go somewhere else.I cant even block pinning of my pics from my store and so in some ways I am adding to the problem because by not doing anything it is implied as permission.
I choose not to play for many reasons.I do not say to anyone else to do what I do.I do say however, BE INFORMED.Ask questions, if you dont understand the answers, ask more and make sure you are comfortable with the information you get in reply. After all Pin Interest is not going to look after you if there is an issue. It says so in the fine print.
Just my two cents worth.

Thank you so much for stopping by....I missed St. Pat's Pink Saturday as we had so much going on here...Allie went off with newly made friends to the big St. Pat's day parade in downtown and then the girls had plans all day and so we were running them around and having fun, too. Green ketchup from Burger King was on the schedule! Now how do you suppose they make it green???

Talk soon!

I Heard A Robin Sing

Oh today was heavenly! It was sunny and 64 degrees! The birds were singing, kids had their skate boards out and the neighbor washed his car as he listened to a game....The next ten days are to be so much warmer and I will work in the gardens and forget all about winter....Hubby tells me not to be too surprised if we get a surprise snow, but I am thinking spring, not snow....I heard a Robins song, but could not find him, but soon we will have our usual nest in an outside corner of the porch and what fun it is to watch them grow!

I am working on spring and Easter things and above is a cute little bunny whose dress is actually a bag to fill with goodies... More bunnies on the way at < The Ruffled Rose>

Happily,
Jil ♥
