Hello and Welcome to this weeks Pink Saturday....When leaving here, just pop on over to Beverly's to find all the other Pink loving blogs...Oh, the beautiful blogs you will see! Beverly would love to have you leave her a comment...she is our wonderful hostess and we thank her very much for her sweet dedication to our event! ♥
I thought I would a share a few of my Southern Belles.....I am not sure why I am so intrigued with them and sometimes spend far too much on them, but I do love them. And I am picky...I am a face snob, I guess, as I no matter how pretty the piece, if the face is not done well, I leave her.... on occasion I have taken out the stitching of the face and redone it, but I hate redoing another's work. It feels like trespassing!
*Please click on the pictures to see more detail*
These darling and pristine pillowslips can be found at My Website
Note the lovely bullion roses...
These Belles will be turned into pillows...maybe porch pillows as there is some yellowing in the middle of the runner...
And one...not in the pastels, but more in the Prairie Style....you will be able to purchase this in my Etsy Shop.
See a close up of the embroidery below....it is exquisite and not a stitch out of step!
I hope you enjoyed your little stroll through some of my Southen Belles....they are still out there, but pretty ones in perfect condition are getting more difficult to find!
I am so happy you stopped by and now I am off to visit you!
Blessings To All!

Hi Jil,
These are so lovely! My mother did very beautiful embroidery work, but it's not something I've ever tried. I love the vintage pillowslips, too, though. I need to do a post of some of the Mom's work. Happy Pink Saturday!
Hugs, Cindy

I can see why you are smitten with these beauties.I love them..they are like a Valentine's..you just have to have them..These are I bet some of the best out there..
I also love beautiful handwork. In my youth I did delicate work. Now I just enjoy looking at what others have done.
I do love your southern belles Jil. They are gorgeous, I still have patterns to quilt some ladies but haven't gotten there yet. Maybe soon as I love yours.
Happy pink Saturday
Hi Jil,
Oh, your Southern Belles are so sweet! I admire anyone who can do that! Beautiful work, and thank you for sharing them with us. Happy Pink Saturday, my friend, and have a wonderful weekend.
Blessings,
Sandi
I bought this design on a window curtain in an estate sale. The lady had made them into two panels and tied them back to show a southern belle image. I have no window they will fit. Guess I will find some use later. Love all of yours.
Sorry about that font. :)
I think you are right on about the faces. They should be sweet. Thanks for stopping by. HPS!
Just lovely, Jil! I have lots of really old transfers that I am sure have southern belles. I can only hope I could do such perfect stitching. Happy Pink Saturday!
Oh my, your southern belles are so lovely! Love those outfits, especially leaving in the south myself....Christine
I just love these and I don't blame you for being a face snob...so am I! I'm very picky about stuffed animals, figurines, etc.. You have chosen these well - they are beautiful!
Your Southern Belles are beautiful!
Dee
I absolutely love your vintage linens! They certainly don't make them like that anymore. Thanks for sharing your treasury!

Hi Jil, Your Southern Belles are lovely. They remind me of my grandmother and mother. Beautiful handwork. Joyous Wishes, Linda
Jil, your beautiful post brought tears to my eyes. My late mother-in-law, Bebe, just loved these maidens with their bonnets! She had quite a collection of them herself and, like you, only picked up the prettiest ones. Thank you for sharing these with us.:)
p.s. many thanks for visiting me!
These delightful southern bells make a Gorgeous pink post! TFS! and thanks for visiting me.

What a wonderful and unique thing to collect! I love your southern belles. I'm so fond of all creative needlework because I don't have a lick of talent with that myself.
Lovely pink post!

What beautiful southern belles you shared with us! I love the detail, Jill.
i love all your beautiful hand made items. my mother made me lots of these before I lost her. They are dear treasures. She was very confused when I asked her to do some with all white thread on white fabric. I don't know why? She was a dear and so are you. Thanks so much for stopping by and visiting, My Old Historic house. Richatd
I love your Southern Bells, Jil! Your comment made my day and then listening to the song on your blog, "At last, my love has come along" gave me so much hope that God has the best to come. Thank you for your inspiration. Happy PS!
I enjoyed the cyber tour of your Southern Bells. I love the embroidery work. HPS!

those are just so beautiful!! And whoever stitched them did gorgeous work. I have a friend who still makes these pretty pillowcases and her stitches are every one just so perfect! HPS
Oh your Southern Bells are so pretty! You are so talented!
Thank you so much for visiting my blog and your lovely comment.

Those are really beautiful pieces. You are very creative
Thanks for visiting. I enjoyed looking at all those pretty embroidered items. I look out for those types of things at second hand shops but it is getting harder to find them.
Oh, these are so beautiful, Jil! I have several linens and they are such a treasure to have! What stories they must tell. I think the pink and green on white crocheted trim is my favorite...just think they were "shabby girls" back then and didn't even know it yet. =0)
Happy Pink Saturday!
Hi Jil,
Oh the embroidery on these pieces are just BEAUTIFUL! I wish I knew how to make such lovely fabric creations, but alas, I'll have to settle at admiring textile beauties like yours. :) Wishing you a most wonderful Pink Saturday! Thank you also for your visit to my blog & for leaving a kind comment - I truly appreciate you taking the time to stop by. :)
Hugs,
Jessie

Hi Jil - Such beauties! I remember as a child buying these prestamped pieces in Woolworth's or Kress's and hurrying home to work on them. I have a few I've made myself, some from relatives, and some I've collected over the years ~ they are treasures and yours are beautiful ~ I'm with you on the faces!! Thanks so much for sharing your treasures with us. Happy Pink Saturday to you....Dru
Gorgeous vintage linens...I have always admired the pieces with the Southern Belles on them especially!

How lovely! I love Southern Bells too. In fact, I have one that graces a throw pillow on my bed. It makes me smile every morning when I add it to my freshly made bed. I enjoyed the time I spent embroidering it too.
Oh I love old linens with embroidery on them! Especially flowers, ladies and pretty things all in a row!
I love your Southern Belle embroidery. So pretty. Thank you for sharing. I,m your newest follower.
